1. Memorandum of Understanding

In 2020, the OHRC, PRP and PRPSB signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) committing to develop and implement legally enforceable recommendations to identify and eliminate systemic racism in policing, promote transparency and accountability, and enhance Black, other racialized and Indigenous communities’ trust in policing throughout Peel Region.

Community engagement 

In 2022, the OHRC and PRP began a series of public engagement sessions on the project’s seven guiding principles, gathering feedback from community members, groups, and organizations. This feedback has informed the development of recommendations to address systemic racism and discrimination in PRPs operations and services.
