There is a lot of racism going on in countries such as Canada and the United States. People are getting beaten up for their skin colour, clothing, and religion. In this essay I am going to talk about racism that has been going on for a long time and which still happens now. There are a lot of things to talk about on the topic of racism. But in this essay I am going to talk about heroes who have tried to change racism, racism in 2012, and how we can change racism.
Heroes who tried to change racism
There are a lot of heroes who took racism seriously and wanted to change it. One of those heroes who once lived was Martin Luther King Jr. He knew that he had to put a stop to the situation of segregation that had been going on for years and years. He saw things around him, like Black people had to be at the back of the bus and they had to give up their seats to White people. White people had to drink from one fountain and Black people had to drink from another fountain, which is really atrocious.
Racism in 2012
There are still signs of racism going on in 2012. For example, if there is a Black group and a White group that get into a fight on the street and the police come and start asking questions they will most likely suspect the Black group started it, because of the police's inner prejudiced feelings that tell them who was in the wrong. So the policemen suspect the Black group and arrest them. So if they arrest the Black group and the real group who really started the fight was the White group, the police suspect them for no reason but just because of their skin colour. This is a sign of racism that is happening in 2012 around us that we might not even notice.
How we can change racism
We can change racism and the way people are getting treated badly around the world if we just think about giving the people we think are different from us another chance. There are many people who want to have their own rights, and peace. There are types of prejudice and discrimination other than just racism. For instance, sometimes people make fun of others who are gay, lesbian, or transsexual. I think that people should stop wanting them to be something they are not. Individuals should be allowed to be whoever they want to be. They can be gay, lesbian, or transsexual. If you think their lifestyle is wrong, just give them another chance. You will see they are just like you.
Conclusion
Now you must have learned from my opinion and my point of view what racism means to me. There are a lot of people who are getting harassed right this second. If you see anyone who is getting bullied or harassed please try to stop them and try to help them out. You will be able to make a huge difference in their life. All those people out there deserve another chance even if they are not entirely similar to us, they are really not that different from us. This concludes my idea of racism.
