Toronto – The Ontario Human Rights Commission (OHRC) is delighted about the reappointment of Patricia DeGuire as Chief Commissioner. Patricia DeGuire will continue to serve until February 18, 2027.
“I am honoured to continue serving as Chief Commissioner of the Ontario Human Rights Commission,” said Chief Commissioner DeGuire. “There is no greater honour than serving the public, especially in human rights. Human Rights are inalienable, and the grounding principles of our constitutional democracy. I welcome the opportunity to continue building on the focused work of the Commission to advance a climate of understanding and mutual respect for the dignity and worth of every person, address systemic barriers, and help create an Ontario where everyone has equal opportunity to thrive and feel a strong sense of belonging. Protecting human rights is everyone’s responsibility.”
Under her tenure, the OHRC has worked to address some of the province’s most pressing human rights issues while strengthening relationships with communities, Indigenous partners, governments, and stakeholders. The impact of the OHRC’s work is only possible because of her expertise, commitment, and passion for this work.
