System
Unit C is on Ontario's human rights system. When the Ontario Human Rights Code was introduced in 1962, the Ontario Human Rights Commission was responsible for enforcing the Code. Since then, the Code has expanded and changed. Ontario's Human Rights system now includes 3 separate groups. Each group has a different job. The three organizations are: the Ontario Human Rights Commission, the Human Rights Legal Support Centre and the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario.

Three Pillars
Ontario's Human Rights system now includes 3 separate groups. Each group has a different job. The three organizations are: the Ontario Human Rights Commission, the Human Rights Legal Support Centre and the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario.

OHRC
The Ontario Human Rights Commission develops policies, provides public education, monitoring and community outreach, and conducting inquiries. Policies are important because they help to understand the Code. If you appear before the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario you can ask that the Commission's policies be considered.

HRLSC
The Human Rights Legal Support Centre can help you file an application and may represent you at the Tribunal.

HRTO
The Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario is where applications, also called applications, are filed. An adjudicator looks at your human rights concerns, considers the evidence, and makes a decision.
