    L’année passée, la CODP n’a pas cessé de dénoncer l’escalade de la haine contre les communautés religieuses et racisées. Il est impératif que nous nous mobilisions tous, et rapidement, pour démontrer notre solidarité individuelle et collective contre les actes d’islamophobie et de racisme, contre la haine et contre la violence qu’elle engendre.

    La CODP se joint aux appels publics à l’examen, par les gouvernements, des lois anti-crimes haineux pour garantir que ces lois soient bien adaptées à la réalité des activités haineuses dans l’ensemble du Canada et que la police fait tout ce qui est nécessaire pour aider les communautés en détresse et assurer la sécurité publique.

Governments at all levels in Canada recognized they needed to act fast to avoid outbreaks in congregate living like long-term care homes and prisons, support front-line workers and add other supports like employment and rent subsidies, and job and tenancy protection.

    Today, OHRC Chief Commissioner Ena Chadha released a statement on how Canada is facing two pandemics – COVID-19 and the pandemic of brazen hate, extremism and brutality.

    With the rise of toxic rhetoric during the early days of COVID-19, the Ontario Human Rights Commission (OHRC) publicly condemned the intensifying xenophobia and scaremongering. Yet, 10 months later, Canada continues to face a pandemic of brazen hate, extremism and brutality.
