Toronto - Some media have recently commented incorrectly that the Ontario Human Rights Commission has made a “ruling” on a complaint involving York University and the accommodation of religious days of observance.
In fact, what has been sent to the parties is a case report prepared by Commission staff that summarizes the results of an investigation and makes no recommendation one way or the other.
The case has not yet come before the Commissioners for a decision.
By law, the Commission is required to receive and investigate all complaints filed as well as try to settle them at any stage in the process.
